The Truth

This patient is happy with her treatment. The interesting thing is that she visited a general dentist for orthodotic treatment and thereafter visited an orthodontist for a “clean up “

It is imperative to know what is the public perception of orthodontics. The patient featured here is quite happy with the treatment and it reflects in her eyes. the fact that the teeth roots are now showing through and that theer is no bite correction is of no concern to the patient.

This is not an isolated incident. a matter of concern indeed.

It is obvious that the patient looked better before the treatment. The patient was treated with “pre adjusted appliance” the begg trained orthodontist used the appliance only to be able to collect a fatter fee from the patient. It is time patient’s learn to inquire the orthodontist’s training and background.

It is obvious the orthodontist had no understanding of the torque, it’s value and the outcome of the pre adjustment in fancy brackets. the result is ghastly to say the least.

Most orthodontist’s have shifted to pre adjusted edgewise from beggs without any knowledge of edgewise.

The twin block appliance was developed by Dr. William J. Clark in 1997. The appliance is made up of upper and lower bite blocks engaged mesial to 1st permanent molar at 700 to occlusal plane,when the mandible is postured forward. This positions the incisors edge to edge with 2mm vertical separation.

Twin blocks is the only functional appliance that patient can wear full time without any restriction of function of tongue, lip and movement of mandible and also esthetically more acceptable then any other myofunctional appliance.
